Guys in Dolls in Concert
Guys in Dolls in Concert--August 9th 2009 @ 2:30 PM
This year's Guys and Dolls concert at the Thornden Park Amphitheater (rain location TBA) will feature members of the Syracuse Opera Chorus. Syracuse Opera's Director of Music, Douglas Kinney Frost, will conduct the orchestra. Picture it, New York City in the 1940's, all the hot gamblers are in town, and they're depending on Nathan Detroit to set up this week's incarnation of "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York"; the only problem is, he needs $1000 to get the place. Throw in Sarah Brown, who's short on sinners at the mission she runs; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan's $1000 bet that he can't get Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana; Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her; Police Lieutenant Brannigan, who always seems to appear at the wrong time; and the award-winning music and lyrics of Frank Loesser, and you've got an entertaining way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
Sponsored by the City of Syracuse Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Programs, Guys and Dolls is FREE, open to the public, and will take place outside! So come one and all and enjoy the sounds of summer in beautiful Upstate New York! For more information, contact the opera offices @ 475-5915 or email info@syacuseopera.com
