Street Team Hits the Streets

40 BELOW TEAMS HIT THE STREETS

Saturday, July 26, 2008

MICHAEL La FLAIR,(left) of Housing Visions Unlimited, and Katrina Marois (center), of First Niagara Risk Management, speak Friday to Stephen Morrison, owner of the Mission Restaurant in Syracuse. La Flair and Marois are among the 42 members of the "It's All Here Street Team," which got to work for the first time Friday. The team spent much of the day in training, hearing from various speakers about how to best promote Syracuse and counter negative perceptions of the city. Team members then went to various locations, ranging from Clark's Ale House to the Museum of Science and Technology, to talk to the staffs, hoping to learn from them as well as recruit them to become Syracuse ambassadors. At the end of the day, the Street Team members were honored by state Sen. John DeFrancisco and others at Ambrosia in Armory Square. The effort, launched by 40 Below's Marketing Communications Task Force, is meant to counter what Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor has dubbed as the region's "self-inflicted inferiority complex."
