Position Summary:
Under the direction and guidance of the Vice President, Corporate Advancement, the Director of Marketing & Communications, will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a strategic communications and public relations plan for the WCNY enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Direct the day-to-day operations of the Communications office.
2. Serve as editor, chief writer and primary creative force for WCNY publications.
3. Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all organization publications.
4. Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
5. Work with Media Services to track and maintain a current log of printed materials in order to meet deadlines.
6. Serve as a key strategist to help generate additional new members and retain current members.
7. Recruit and direct communications interns to assist with projects as needed and provide an experiential learning experience.
8. Arrange photography as needed.
9. Other assignments as needed.

Credentials and Experience:
1. Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of communications and public relations activities.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Experience writing press releases,
4. Advanced degree of computer proficiency in Microsoft office, design software.
5. Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
6. Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
7. Minimum 5 years experience in marketing communications or public relations with demonstrated success in story placement on local, regional and national level.
